A minibus and a hatchback had been involved inside the incident at 8.53am on the M6 southbound between Junction 13 for Stafford South and 12 for Gailey.

Three of the 4 lanes had been closed whilst police, ambulance and fireplace crews attended the scene,

Staffordshire Fire Service tweeted: "Crews have attended an RTC on the M6 south between JN thirteen Dunston to twelve Gailey.

"Incident worried 2 vehicles; 1 hatchback and 1 mini-bus. Fire Service gave first resource and made safe. Nine casualties conveyed to hosp via land ambulance."

All lanes were reopened with the aid of 1.30pm, but with National Highways warning of delays of at the least 30 minutes.
