The singer wore a revealed leather leotard for the Britain's Got Talent performance
Simon Cowell does not understand what it is like for parents watching with young children, says Jan Moir
Jennifer Lopez is the latest singer
to attract criticism for performing a strictly adults only routine on a
family television show. Oh dear, yawn, ’fraid so, here we go again.
Yet
on Britain’s Got Talent this week, J-Lo went one better. The American
entertainer clambered aboard a pair of pervy thigh-high boots, wore a
bondage leather swimsuit and a peculiar furry bolero to sing her latest
song.
In this porno Big
Bird costume she wasted no time in going over the top, under the limbo
bar of decorum and straight into the arms of controversy.
Knees
akimbo, hand loitering in the groin region she sang lyrics including
something about ‘give you a hard night, so tight, ready to blow’.
(That’s right children, it was all about giving Mummy a lovely hairstyle
with nice curlers and then using a hairdryer).
Miss
Lopez also slid towards the camera with her knees apart and thrust her
crotch at the blameless audience. Then, viewed from an overhead camera,
she opened and closed her legs in a sequence that would have Busby
Berkeley turning in his grave.
There are only three words for
her pelvis pumping, see-what-I-had-for-breakfast routine — yuk, yuk and
yuk again. The only thing missing was a pole and a spray of greasy
fivers crammed into her pants.
This sort of thing is never dignified at any age, but for a 43-year-old woman, it is just a bit desperate.
Surely
there’s a certain level of poise you should maintain when you’re a
celebrity in your 40s, the idol of millions of young fans and the mother
of two toddlers? This was not it.
Lady
stars, here is a good rule of thumb in future. We don’t want — we
really don’t want — to see the view your waxer is most familiar with,
OK?
