Italian Coffee Connoisseur Criticizes Non-Italians for Misunderstanding Coffee Etiquette: Cappuccinos After Lunch Are a No-Go
Nadia, also known as the Pasta Queen, has expressed her disappointment with non-Italians for their incorrect coffee-drinking habits.
With over 2 million followers on her Instagram account, The Pasta Queen, Nadia usually shares delightful recipes with her audience. However, in her latest video, she took a moment to address her followers and set them straight regarding their coffee consumption.
Nadia revealed that those who indulge in cappuccinos after midday are simply doing it all wrong. Speaking directly to her followers, she explained that Italians view cappuccinos as a breakfast beverage, making it almost unheard of to have one after lunch.
In the video, as someone off-camera offers her a cappuccino, Nadia appears bewildered and rolls her eyes before responding, "No. It's past 12."
She goes on to elaborate on why Italians refrain from drinking cappuccinos after noon, emphatically slamming her hand on the table and exclaiming, "It's a breakfast drink!"
Nadia further explains, "It's all about the frothed milk! It's meant to awaken your senses before 10 a.m., and if you really want to stretch it, maybe until 11. But never after 12."
According to Nadia, when you're enjoying a meal, there's already enough happening in your mouth and stomach. All you need is a quick espresso, she asserts.
To emphasize the seriousness of this faux pas, the self-proclaimed Pasta Queen offers an analogy to help her audience understand how peculiar it would be to have a cappuccino after midday in Italy: "It's like an American having a hot dog for breakfast."
Viewers of her video shared their own experiences ordering coffee in Italy, which only served to prove Nadia's point. One person commented, "I ordered a cappuccino in Italy, and the waiter said no."
However, there were others who challenged this rule and defiantly shared their dissent. One viewer stated, "I will continue to have my cappuccino morning, noon, and night! I especially enjoy ordering a cappuccino after dinner while traveling in Italy, just to annoy the waiter."
