Kim Kardashian, seen here getting a
scan on Sunday's episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, underwent a
painful procedure over the weekend to turn her breech baby into the
correct position
Kim Kardashian
has revealed she underwent a procedure to turn her breech baby into the
right position in an effort to avoid having a C-section.
The
reality TV star had an ECV - an external cephalic version - over the
weekend and Kanye West and her sisters were on standby at the hospital
in case the procedure turned into an early delivery of her son.
She told her fans on her app and website kimkardashianwest.com:
'They don't give you any pain medication, and let me tell you: This was
soooooo painful. Probably more painful than childbirth. BUT it
worked!!!'
She added: 'My baby is in the right position and it feels so good to not have the stress of thinking I need a C-section.'
She
described the agonizing process, which involves doctors manually moving
the baby with their hands on her abdomen, in eye-watering detail.
She
explained: 'They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and
then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby.
'There
was a risk that my water might break or the baby's heart rate could
drop—in which case, an emergency C-section would then take place. I went
in with my sisters and my husband. I was prepared for it all!'
She is now back at home but has since falling ill with a sinus infection and the flu.
Kim
also had a difficult first pregnancy with North West, now two, and she
was forced to give birth to the little one five weeks early.
