Jake Gyllenhaal shows off his ripped physique as he wrestles Conor McGregor shirtless in the 1980s remake of Road House

In the upcoming 1980s remake of Road House, Jake Gyllenhaal impresses with his chiseled physique as he engages in a shirtless wrestling match with Conor McGregor. New images have emerged showcasing the actor, 43, in the role of Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter turned bouncer at a seedy bar in the Florida Keys.

Conor McGregor, the 35-year-old UFC fighter, will also join the cast of this cult classic reboot, set to be released on Amazon Prime on March 21. The photos reveal Conor's skills as he locks Jake in a headlock, portraying the character Knox. Both men display their muscular bodies as they grapple with each other, and Jake is seen with a bloodied and bruised face after a fight.

The film also features Jessica Williams, Daniela Melchior (in the role originally played by Kelly Lynch), and Billy Magnussen (replacing Ben Gazzara). Alongside UFC fighter Conor, they bring their talents to this highly anticipated remake. Daniela Melchior, breakout star of The Suicide Squad, portrays Elwood's love interest in the film.

In a recent development, Hollywood writer Lance Hill filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com, seeking to halt the remake. Hill argues that the film violates his rights as the original screenplay's author. The 81-year-old writer claims that Amazon never obtained a license to remake his screenplay after he reclaimed the copyright. He is seeking monetary damages and a court order to prevent Amazon from distributing the movie without a new license.

Despite the legal dispute, the remake, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is scheduled to debut as the opening night film at the South by Southwest festival on March 8. It will then be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting March 21. An Amazon MGM Studios spokesperson dismissed the lawsuit as "completely without merit."

Directed by Doug Liman, known for his work on films like Swingers, The Bourne Identity, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the remake captures the essence of the original Road House while introducing new elements. Jake Gyllenhaal, who had a close connection with the late Patrick Swayze, expressed his excitement about the project and the opportunity to pay tribute to his friend. He acknowledged the challenge of stepping into Swayze's shoes but assured fans that they have created a whole new movie.

Patrick Swayze, the original star of Road House, passed away in 2009 at the age of 57 after battling stage IV pancreatic cancer. The new Road House will not receive a theatrical release but will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime. Director Doug Liman has voiced his protest against the film's SXSW premiere, citing Amazon's decision to forgo a theatrical release despite the movie being made with theaters in mind.
