Parliament
Campaigners gathered in cities including London (bottom, holding up placards in Parliament Square) and Newcastle, with further protests Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow. The first few protesters met up in London at around 11.30am, following a rallying call from Jeremy Corbyn who declared activists were 'right to take to the streets'. And then later hundreds occupied areas of Newcastle and York for the 'stop the coup' protests organised by Anti-Brexit campaign group Another Europe Is Possible. Left-wing group Momentum called on its members to 'occupy bridges and blockade roads' in conjunction with unrest on the streets - with hundreds set up outside Downing Street in Whitehall, central London (top, the crowds in Whitehall). The Shadow Home Secretary (inset, with protesters today) emerged on the street of London at midday, joining protesters outside Downing Street.
