WHAT ARE LAMBSKIN CONDOMS?
Lambskin condoms, also known as sheepskin condoms or simply ‘skins’ are an alternative to the usual latex condoms.
Skins are membrane condoms made from a thin layer of sheep cecum – a part of the animal's intestine.
They
are very thin and considered by many to provide the most pleasure of
any type of condom. They provide increased sensation and present no
problems for people who suffer from latex allergies.
For
pregnancy prevention, users consider them to be the closest thing to
not wearing a condom at all. The lambskin material has tiny pores but
they are not large enough to allow sperm to pass through.
However,
they are not effective against many sexually transmitted diseases. They
do not prevent the transmission of viral STDs, including HIV and
herpes, as the viruses are small enough to get through the pores.
