Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law by which the courts can send drug addicts to compulsory treatment.

The document is available on the official website of legal information and is expected to enter into force 180 days.
It is noted that the treatment of human can be sent only on the basis that he was not sentenced to a penitentiary in prison.
New features will be included in the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Violations. Under the changes, addicts can send not only for treatment but also for rehabilitation, and diagnosis and prevention. If a person does not want to abide by the decision of the court is likely he will have to pay a fine of 4-5 thousand rubles.
In September 2013, the Cabinet announced the statistics, which indicated that in Russia 8.5 million people use drugs and psychotropic substances. The number of such citizens is approximately 6% of the total population.
