Images from the Gaza War 2012, Israel Crimes in Gaza killing children

Scary and heartbreaking images (and sounds) continue to emerge from the growing war in Gaza and southern Israel, even as world leaders desperately hope for a truce and Israel prepares for a larger invasion. Reuters reported this morning that Israeli leaders say they are ready to invade the Gaza Strip with ground troops, and may be prepared to move within the next 48-72 hours if the situation does not improve.

The situation may have already changed dramatically, at least in the world's opinion of  it, after an Israeli airstrike killed 11 civilians including four generations of one family, over the weekend. The IDF says the attack on the Dalou home was intentional, because they believed a top Hamas military figure was hiding out there, but the pictures of an entire family being wiped out by a single bomb have only reminded people of the heavy price that non-combatants are paying in this fight. The death toll since the war escalated last Wednesday has now reached 90, with almost half the casualties being civilians and all but three of the deaths falling on the Palestinian side.

It doesn't help to have Gilad Sharon, the son of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, calling for a "decisive conclusion" the conflict, meaning that Israeli should wipe out all of the Gaza Strip if that's what it takes to end the threat.

We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.

Meanwhile, the conflict continues and terrible images of destroyed homes, dead children, and fiery explosions are coming out the region, from TV reporters ducking and covering as air raid sirens go off to citizens on the ground documenting the carnage as it happens.

Here are some more pictures from Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank (where Palestinian protesters have lashed out in anger over the offensive in Gaza.) Be warned: Some of the images contain dead bodies and may be disturbing.
