Konan uses her six hundred billion paper bombs against Tobi but he survives the attack because of Izanagi. Tobi impales Konan with a rod and explains the origin and the use of Izanagi that only the clans of Uchiha and Senju can use. Konan manages to free from Tobi's rod but Tobi chokes Konan and uses Sharingan to locate Nagato. 

Tobi enters a crypt where bodies of Nagato and Yahiko lying on paper flowers, then he obtains Nagato's Rinnegan. Konan, now dying afloat from the waters of Amegakure, releases a red paper and reminisces her days with Jiraiya. Jiraiya made a flip tile which indicates the presence and absence of Yahiko,

 Nagato and Konan in the house and a escape route. Konan's red paper lands on her flip tile in their old house, signifies that she returned home. Meanwhile at the Akatsuki hideout, Tobi now with a new outfit and mask arrives and Zetsu gives Kisame's
