Kate Winslet looks lovely from the front row of the St. John show

Kate Winslet is a cut above the rest as she steps out in a PVC frock to party with New York's fashion elite

She's known for her elegant and understated fashion choices, but tonight Kate Winslet decided to take a bit of a risk.

The 36-year-old actress attended St. John's New York Fashion Week show today wearing a figure-hugging PVC leather-effect dress.

Her smoky eye make-up and tight-fitting frock aren't typical beauty or style choices for the Carnage star.

However, she'd become a bit bolder in the last five months now that she's found love with a man who's name is RocknRoll.

Not to worry, though: Ned's name is a fabricated as Ms. Winslet's dress: he changed his name a few years ago after putting the matter out to a vote.

Though her frock wasn't made from genuine leather, she still looked stunning tonight as she attended St. John's post-show dinner.

She posed with Vogue magazine's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who, for once, deigned to take off her sunglasses indoors.

The two women couldn't have looked more different as they posed for their photo opp, given that the 62-year-old fashion maven was wearing an orange fur over a pink lizard-print coat with an art inspired blue, pink, black and white dress underneath.

But it wasn't just the Revolutionary Road star who stepped out to hang with the fashion elite.

Brazilian model Camila Alves looked lovely in a long, electric blue skirt and simple white and black top to attend Yigal Azroeul's Fall 2012 show.
