Kylian Mbappe 'SIGNS his Real Madrid contract' ahead of joining European champions as a free agent

Kylian Mbappe 'SIGNS his Real Madrid contract' ahead of joining European champions as a free agent - as French superstar brings an end to long-running transfer saga after PSG exit

French star Kylian Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, and that transfer saga has finally reached its conclusion. After leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2022-23 season, the 24-year-old has officially signed a contract to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

The move to the Bernabeu will finally end the speculation that has followed Mbappe throughout his career. It was reported back in February that Real Madrid had reached an agreement with the forward that would see him join the club on a free transfer in the summer, with an £85.5 million signing-on fee. However, there had been no official announcement regarding his future until now.

According to respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the contract has been signed and the official announcement from Real Madrid will be made in the coming weeks. "Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid... HERE WE GO," Romano said in a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account. "The saga is finally over. Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid as a free agent at the end of the season. The contract has been signed, the announcement will be really soon, in the next weeks, but Real Madrid will have one more star in their squad."

Mbappe's departure from Paris Saint-Germain was expected as far back as last summer, but the 24-year-old only officially announced he would be leaving the club on May 10th. In an emotional message to PSG's fans, Mbappe said: "I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks. I will play my last game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. It's a lot of emotion; many years where I had the chance and the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club - one of the best in the world."

The claims from Romano come after French outlet L'Equipe reported on Friday that Mbappe will be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player on Monday, less than 48 hours after Los Blancos' Champions League final triumph over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley. During a training session with the French national team on Thursday, Mbappe was even spotted signing a Real Madrid shirt for a fan - a clear indication that this deal is done and dusted.

Real Madrid have been pursuing Mbappe for the best part of a decade, and they've finally got their man. The Spanish champions will be getting one of the world's best players, who has consistently proven his quality at the highest level for both club and country. Mbappe's arrival at the Bernabeu is sure to send shockwaves through European football, and Real Madrid fans will be eagerly anticipating the official announcement of their new superstar signing.

Despite his exit from PSG being expected for some time, the relationship between Mbappe and the club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly remains strong. Both parties have stated that there is an agreement in place that respects PSG's huge investment in Mbappe's development since his £166 million move from Monaco in 2017.

This transfer saga has been one of the most drawn-out and highly publicized in recent memory, but Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid is finally a done deal. The French phenom will now look to take the Spanish capital by storm and help Los Blancos maintain their status as one of the true powerhouses of European football.
