Richard Branson, the daredevil billionaire, has shared pictures of his injuries after a bike accident in Virgin Gorda. Branson revealed that he hit a pothole while cycling but fortunately did not break any bones. He suffered a hematoma on his hip and a cut on his elbow.
This is not the first time Branson has been involved in a cycling accident.
In 2021, his brakes failed during an endurance charity race in the British Virgin Islands, causing a "colossal" crash. In 2016, he cracked his cheek and tore ligaments during the Virgin Strive challenge in Leverick Bay.
Branson posted a photo of his latest accident on Instagram, acknowledging the tumble and expressing gratitude for avoiding serious injuries.
He mentioned cycling with Alex Wilson, who also fell but escaped major harm. Branson's followers sent messages of support, admiring his bravery while advising caution and wishing him a speedy recovery.
In the 2021 crash, Branson collided with another rider and feared he had broken his back. He sustained severe cuts, bruises, a swollen hip, and a massive hematoma. Branson emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet, stating that it saved his life.
Photos from the incident showed him lying on his back next to another rider and later smiling with an ice pack. In 2016, his collision with a road hump in Leverick Bay resulted in a head-first fall, but his injuries were less severe due to protective gear.
Branson has had numerous brushes with death throughout his life. He compiled a list of these near-death experiences in his autobiography "Finding My Virginity," which includes incidents like bungee jumping accidents, close encounters with electric tracks, and a microlight aircraft mishap. Despite these incidents, Branson remains an adventurous and resilient entrepreneur.
