Sean Penn has vowed to “smelt” his Oscar if it seems the Academy chose now not to encompass Volodymyr Zelensky inside the 2022 Oscars.

Last week, Oscars host Amy Schumer claimed that her request to have the Ukrainian president deal with the superstar-studded gathering turned into rejected.

Appearing on CNN on Saturday (26 March), Penn stated that the Academy had an duty to permit Zelensky to speak amid the invasion of Ukraine with the aid of Russia.

“There is nothing more that the Academy Awards may want to do than to give him an opportunity to talk to absolutely everyone,” the actor stated.

“It is my understanding that a choice has been made now not to do it… If the [Academy has] elected not to pursue the management in Ukraine, who are taking bullets and bombs for us, along side the Ukrainian youngsters that they are trying to shield, then I assume every single one of these people and each little bit of that decision will have been the most obscene moment in all of Hollywood history.”

If it did turn out that the Academy had no longer invited Zelenskyy to speak, Penn stated that his fellow filmmakers have to boycott the rite.

“If it comes again to it, I will smelt mine in public,” Penn said. “I pray that’s not what’s passed off.

“I pray there have now not been smug humans, who take into account themselves representatives of the more accurate in my industry, which have [decided against checking] with leadership in Ukraine. So I’m simply going to hope that that’s no longer what’s happened. I hope [everyone] walks out if it's far.”

The Independent has contacted the Academy for remark.

Last month, Penn changed into seen at a press briefing on the Presidential Office in Kyiv, wherein he was filming a documentary.
