Diversion

National Highways has listed details of the authentic diversion to be taken by using drivers suffering from the M1 closure. It involves leaving the carriageway at junction eight for Hemel Hempstead and rejoining at nine for Redbourn.


 Leave the M1 at junction eight and live on the A414 towards Hemel Hempstead.

 Leave the A414 on the Maylands Roundabout, taking the third exit onto the A4147.

 Continue at the A4147 till you reach a roundabout. Turn left after which flip right at the next roundabout onto the A4147 Redbourn Road.

 Continue on Redbourn Road and then turn right at the next roundabout onto the B487 Redbourn Road.

Continue at the B487 Redbourn Road/Hemel Hempstead Road, following symptoms for the M1 and Dunstable.

Continue directly at the roundabout for Redbourn by taking the A5183.

Continue on the A5183 until you reach junction nine for the M1.
