A STRETCH of the A1(M) is closed following a serious crash in the early hours of this morning

 


A STRETCH of the A1(M) is shut after a genuine accident in the early hours of earlier today. 

Two vehicles were engaged with the crash close to Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire, at around 2.20am earlier today. 

The street stays shut down as mishap agents work at the scene. 

North Yorkshire Police said crisis administrations were called to the location of a genuine accident on the southward carriageway between Junction 51, with the A684 for Leeming Bar and Bedale, and Junction 50, with the A61 to Ripon. 

They have not affirmed any further subtleties of the episode however officials are engaging for witnesses or any individual who was venturing out nearby to reach out. 

Reports from the AA recommend one of the vehicles toppled and stopped in a field. 

A representative for National Highways Yorkshire said: "Kindly know that this A1M southward J51 to J50 occurrence is creating setbacks of 40 mins above typical excursion time for this season of day. 

"There is around four miles of blockage on approach. 

"If it's not too much trouble, permit a lot of additional time for your excursion in case you are going nearby." 

A representative for North Yorkshire Police said: "Any individual who saw the crash or who was driving along that stretch of street at around the hour of the impact is approached to contact police. 

"Dial 101, press 1 and pass data to the Force Control Room, citing reference number NYP-18102021-0020."
