NHS officials confirmed the person – who hasn't been identified – died last night at the Watford General Hospital.
It comes after leading experts today warned the united kingdom might be heading straight for a coronavirus crisis just like the one which has crippled Italy.
Italy last night put all of its 60million people into lockdown and banned movement between cities during a drastic bid to prevent COVID-19, which has infected 9,000 people.
The UK is following an equivalent trajectory, one scientist said, and will find yourself during a similar situation as Italy within fortnight .
