Emiliano Sala's sobbing family follow his coffin thousands of fans bid farewell to player who died when his plane crashed in the Channel

The heartbroken family of tragic footballer Emiliano Sala have gathered for his funeral in Argentina today - as thousands of well-wishers travelled to watch the star's coffin carried out of his childhood football club.


Sala's funeral is being held in his home town in Argentina after he died in a fatal crash on January 21


The football star was cremated at around 3.30pm local time following a ceremony in Progreso near Santa Fe

Romina Sala, the footballer's sister, broke down in tears as she watched her brother's remains carried away 
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock and chief executive Ken Choo were also in attendance at ceremony today
The Argentinean striker, 28, died from injuries to his head and body as the pilot's body is yet to be recovered
