Amanda Nunes strengthened her grip on the bantamweight crown by completely dominating Raquel Pennington before stopping the challenger in the fifth round in the main event of UFC 224 on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro.
'The Lioness' spoke of her great respect for Pennington in her post-fight interview. She invited Pennington's fiancé Tecia Torres into the Octagon and claimed that it was the hardest fight of her career due to her friendship with the couple.
'I like those girls so much. It was hard to me. But I had to defend the belt. I had to do it. Now, we're friends. We're gonna have a beer in celebration,' Nunes said.
