THINGS WON'T GET BETTER IN 2016
The
New Year will not ring in a change as more heavy rain and potential
flooding is on its way for parts of northern England and western
Scotland.
A
new band of stormy weather blowing in from the Atlantic is due to hit
some of the worst-affected areas already flooded or at risk because of
waterlogged ground from Friday evening.
And
the unsettled weather front will continue over the weekend into the
start of the next week with the risk of more weather warnings to come.
The
Met Office predicts heavy rain for parts of Northern Ireland, North
Wales, The Lake District and the North West, North Yorkshire, the North
East and Western Scotland over the weekend.
Forecaster
Emma Sharples said: ‘It's too early to give exact figures on rainfall
over the weekend but more heavy rain is on the way.
‘As we move into the evening and we have more information, it will help us determine where and when to issue warnings.
‘There
is an unsettled weather front coming in from the west but it's not
looking quite as bad as we've seen in the past few days - it is looking
like a normal weather front that is coming through.’
