My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding will premiere on TLC on April 29-2012
The show will also introduce audiences to 23-year-old Bill, who is preparing to marry 18-year-old Tamara, a non-Gypsy who needs to win her fiance's family's approval before the pair are hitched.
A voice-over advises viewers during the teaser that there are one million gypsies living in America, so we can probably expect plenty more action of this variety.
While the UK version of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding presents its own share of unusual bridal behaviour, the forthcoming American version will set the bar at an extreme low.
A teaser for the premiere season of TLC’s My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding has shown two of the women travelers caught in a violent fist fight out the front of a church in West Virginia.
Diamond, who is the larger woman in the footage according to TMZ, is shown to be pinned on the ground by Mellie who viciously pulls Diamond’s hair, punches her and attempts to eye-gauge her.

It seems that the U.S. series, which will focus on the American traveling culture and its wedding planning dramas, will deliver a habitual snapshot of the type of life one would normally expect from Jersey Shore rather than the popular UK series.
Diamond is shown to lose such control during the fight that her dress slips down to reveal one of her breasts.
But while it may look as though Diamond is suffering the most, the footage also shows that she had originally thrown Mellie to the pavement before the women began throwing punches at one another.
As the two women, who were apparently arguing over one of the gypsy couple's suitability, savagely lay into one another, a voice is heard yelling out: ‘Give it to her!’

Another piece of footage shows an amused onlooker telling the camera: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wedding quite like this.’
TMZ have said the fight took place last November when Diamond, who was the maid of honour to one of the gypsy brides, had heard through friends that Mellie had been mouthing off about her dislike for the bride. Mellie is a friend of the groom.
Once Diamond found her, she confronted her out the front of the church.
