For many years, she lived in London and is used to the British weather - so it's hardly surprising that Madonna wrapped up warm to arrive at Heathrow yesterday.
However, The Material Girl had overdone the winter clothing somewhat, and looked kitted out more for a trip to the Russian steppes than a stay in the capital.
The 52-year-old was wearing a black fake fur trapper-style hat, big black sheepskin coat, huge black sunglasses, black culottes, heavy black boots and a black and white long striped scarf.
The popstar was accompanied by her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes, was was dressed equally casually, but not quite as warmly, in a white shirt and jeans, with a black cloche-style hat.
The pair had certainly bought enough baggage for more than a change of clothing however, and seemed to have enough for a month-long stay.
It's thought that the star is in town to glad-hand film industry sorts at this weekend's BAFTAs ahead of the release of her movie W.E.
The movie is a two-tiered romantic drama, juxtaposing the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a love affair in the current world between a married woman and a Russian security guard.
It's due out later this year and stars Bright Star actress Abbie Cornish as the recently divorced Wally Winthrop and Oscar Isaac as the Russian Evgeni.
Andrea Riseborough plays Wallis and Madonna's daughter Lourdes also has a bit part in the movie, appearing under the name Lola Leon, with other stars including Laurence Fox, James Fox and James D'Arcy make an appearance.
Madonna meanwhile was last in London at the beginning of last month, when she had a night out with her latest young lover, 24-year-old Brahim Zaibat, at Aura nighclub in Mayfair.
It's thought she was talent-spotting for new dancers for her next world tour.
In fact, the hotspot can probably expect another visit from the star while she's in town this time.
It's one of her favourites and she's been five times in the past seven months.
Meanwhile, dance music star David Guetta's remix of Madonna's track Revolver is up for a Grammy Award tomorrow.
The tune was a new single on the star's Celebration greatest hits album of December 2009, and features guest rapper Lil Wayne, but bombed on its release in the UK, only reaching 130 in the charts.
The song is nominated in the ‘Best Remixed Recording’ category at the bash which takes place in Los Angeles tomorrow.
