The consensus on Kate Middleton's royal style is in, and it's hats off to the future princess.
Actually, more like hats on.
Middleton, 29, who's known for sporting British fashion labels – from Temperley London and blouses from London high street chain Whistles – has been spotted tipping her hat at British milliners.
At a friend's wedding recently, she topped off a black ISSA dress and Libélula velvet jacket with a jaunty black felt beret from Whiteley Fischer, a British hat manufacturer who has been in the millinery trade for more than 60 years.
"She has worn our hats before, but this particular one looked gorgeous on her," the director of the family business, Peter Whiteley, tells PEOPLE, adding: "I think she has quite an original style and seems to carry off her hats very well."
Middleton, who's also been spotted wearing designs by the London-based Irish milliner Philip Treacy, could be leading the way to a hat-wearing resurgence.
"Hats seem to be very fashionable at the moment," says Whiteley. "Once someone like Kate starts wearing them, I'm sure more people will follow."
Similar styles from Whiteley Fischer are available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
