Live M1 updates as severe crash between J27 and J28 brings street to standstill
Traffic has been stopped on the M1 northbound to allow an air ambulance to land and get right of entry to the scene. Traffic has been added to a standstill between J27 and J28.
The M1 in Derbyshire /Nottinghamshire is currently closed southbound between junction 28 and junction 27 following a serious collision on Tuesday afternoon (October eleven), National Highways confirmed. Nottinghamshire Police is in attendance.
In an update issued rapidly before 3pm, traffic tracking website Inrix stated: "M1 in both instructions closed, queueing traffic due to twist of fate, a lorry and a car worried from J27 A608 Mansfield Road (Hucknall / Underwood) to J28 A38 (Alfreton / Mansfield). Accident has reportedly passed off Southbound. Northbound has been shut briefly for the air ambulance."
Highways Statement
A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said: "If this closure influences on your planned path, please allow greater adventure time. Plan ahead, you can wish to re-course or even delay your adventure."

Road users are suggested to follow the xxx diversion symbol on avenue symptoms
At M1 Junction 28, exit onto the westbound A38.
At the grade-separated junction at Ripley, take the exit for the A610 and tour south-east round Ripley, thru Codnor and returned to the M1 at Junction 26.
