LONDON – Gunnar Nelson lower back from a two-and-a-half of 12 months layoff at UFC Fight Night 204 and had his way with Takashi Sato.


After various circumstances kept him out of the cage for the longest stretch of his career, Nelson (18-5-1 MMA, nine-five UFC) came again and used his advanced grappling to outwork Sato (sixteen-five MMA, 2-three UFC) and cozy a unanimous decision victory by way of three 30-26 scores.


The welterweight bout became part of the UFC Fight Night 204 major card at the O2. It streamed on ESPN+.


After feeling every different out at the toes for the primary short while, Nelson and Sato finally twisted up in a grappling trade and inside moments, Nelson had Sato’s lower back. He landed moves from the returned and methodically labored toward a choke. He couldn’t get it, though, and Sato survived the spherical.


It became extra of the equal in Round 2. Nelson become satisfied to stay status with Sato, until he determined otherwise and secured the takedown. Nelson advanced to the lower back and spent almost the complete round operating for the choke, but couldn’t get it executed.


The movement picked up wherein it left off in the very last round. Nelson got the takedown on Sato at will, moved to the returned and chipped away at attempts to complete the fight via submission. He couldn’t do it once more, though, and cruised to the very last bell to get the win at the scorecard.


“I desired to do matters differently at the floor and be a touch more affected person,” Nelson said in his submit-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “It feels tremendous (to be lower back). It’s terrific. (I’m) very satisfied to be here.”
