"We encourage street clients to design their excursions ahead of time and permit additional time."
Two vans and a truck are among the vehicles associated with the accident.
Nottinghamshire Police said: "M1 southward is as of now shut between intersection 25 and 26. Two vans and a truck are accepted to have been engaged with the crash, which occurred at around 2.45am earlier today (January 20). Drivers are being approached to keep away from the area and plan a backup way to go."
