Japan midfielder Kawabe joins Wolves from Grasshoppers

LONDON : Japanese global midfielder Hayao Kawabe has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Grasshoppers Zurich on a three-and-a-half-year bargain, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old will spend January in England however is relied upon to get back to Switzerland for the remainder of the period, Wolves included an assertion without giving any monetary subtleties.

Kawabe, the main Japanese to finish paperwork for Wolves, joined Grasshopper from Sanfrecce Hiroshima last year and has scored four objectives in 18 appearances.

"Hayao is a player we've watched a great deal and he's done all around well this season," said Wolves' specialized chief Scott Sellars.

"He's an assaulting midfield player, extremely fiery, exceptionally occupied, and has great quality. He's truly sparkled at Grasshoppers this year, and he's one of the fundamental reasons they're doing as such well.

"Hayao will enjoy January with Bruno (Lage's) bunch while the Swiss Super League is on a colder time of year break, then, at that point, he'll probably get back to Grasshoppers to complete the season there, as he has been a significant player for them up until this point this season."

Wolves are eighth in the Premier League in the wake of beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford last Monday.
