"Night of the Arts" in Moscow museums

 


The all-Russian action "Night of the Arts" this year will be held on November 4. Moscow museums will hold special tours, master classes and concerts, and they will also be open longer than usual. However, due to coronavirus restrictions, most of the events will take place online. We remind you that now you need a QR code to visit the museum, and we tell you about interesting offline and online events.

Historical Museum

The Historical Museum can rightfully be considered the main offline venue for the Arts Nights in 2021, the program of the action will be held here from 18.00 to 23.00. On numerous tours of the permanent exhibition, one can learn about the history of the Russian noble costume, ancient women's jewelry, the works of ancient Russian masters and Russian military triumphs, and also visit the premises that are usually closed to visitors. Tickets for them, like entrance tickets, will be sold at half price. And with the help of the group in "VKontakte" "The investigation is carried out by lovers of history" it will be possible to pass the quest through the halls dedicated to medieval Russia for free.


Also in the Main Hall from 6 pm to 10 pm it will be possible to paint a plate similar to the one in the wedding service of Alexander II, make a bookmark based on the exhibition Works of the Imperial Glass Factory of the 19th - early 20th centuries and take part in the Time of Troubles quiz. At the same place at 19.00–19.30, 20.00–20.30 and 21.00–21.30 concerts “Music for the harp” will be held: the cycle of Pyotr Tchaikovsky “The Seasons”, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Handel, Mikhail Glinka and other classics will be performed. 

Pushkin Museum

The Pushkin Museum has also prepared several offline events, which will take place in the Italian courtyard of the main building. At 19.00, an hour and a half discussion "Let it live in us: the ecology of hospitality" will begin, it will be held by the French duo Art Orienté Objet (artists Marion Laval-Jeante and Benoit Manguin) and researcher in the field of animal studies Katya Nikitina. They will tell you how artists can explore environmental and interspecies issues and be activists, and museums can become greener.

At 21.00, the film "Cast" will be shown, which combines art, music, dance and cinema. Also, director Andrei Silvestrov will tell you how this project was created. It was filmed at the Pushkin Museum at the end of 2020, when it was closed to visitors due to the pandemic. In the film, the Russian ballerina Diana Vishneva, as a guide between the arts of different eras, wanders through the halls of Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. And other dancers, with the help of plastics, convey the sensations that arise when they meet the works of those times. The music was written by contemporary Russian composers, and the dances were staged by the finalists of different years of the international festival of contemporary choreography Context. Diana Vishneva. All events are free, but you need to register for them in advanceand buy an entrance ticket to the museum. The discussion of the film will also be broadcast on the museum 's VKontakte account .


Moscow City Museum

This year, the Museum of Moscow will hold all the events of the "Night of the Arts" in an online format. The highlight of the program - an online concert by the Zarya group and the "Sparky" music project, will take place at 21.00 in the Moscow - Seoul exhibition space. It will be possible to view it on the museum's VKontakte page , registration is open at the link . Another significant event - the premiere online media, "the Solaris" project portal "Kultura.RF"(the link to the broadcast will only be available for one day). This project about digital reality was prepared by the museum in cooperation with the Praktika theater: an exhibition of works in the phygital genre (by Pavel Pepperstein, Sonya Stereostyrsky and the Immerse Lab group) and an experimental performance in which director Dmitry Melnikov uses modern media are being held in one space. Also at 19.00 live on the museum's Instagram page will open a pop-up exhibition "XXL" by artist, illustrator and musician Andrei Kasai. 

The branches of the museum have also prepared an online program. For example, the Gilyarovsky Center at 18.00 will acquaint you with the history of National Unity Day, which is celebrated on November 4, and the Museum of Archeology of Moscow will hold a master class on making northern clay toys (these events can be viewed on the YouTube channel of the Museum of Moscow ). Also on the Facebook of the Lefortovo Museum of History, a lecture by fashion historian Vera Radvila will be held : she will talk about how the revolution influenced the dresses of Moscow ladies.


Vrubel's Night at the New Tretyakov Gallery

The program "Arts Nights" at the New Tretyakov Gallery this year will be held on the museum's YouTube channel and will be dedicated to the main exhibition of the season "Mikhail Vrubel"... At 20.30, an online tour of the exposition will begin: it includes more than 300 works of the Russian modernist from nine museums and eight private collections, viewers will get acquainted only with the most iconic works of the artist. And at 21.00 pianist Kirill Richter and violinist Konstantin Dorokhov will perform for the first time their works dedicated to Vrubel and the key image of his work - the Demon. During the concert, digital installations about the artist will be shown on the screens. Exhibitions and permanent exhibition halls in the New Tretyakov Gallery on November 4 will be available for visiting with regular tickets from 10.00 to 21.00, so before the evening online program you can still have time to look at Vrubel's paintings, graphics and majolica live.


Museum-reserve "Tsaritsyno"

This time the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve also participates in the action in an online format, the main event of the program - the broadcast of the show "Music in a Dream" - will begin at 20.00 on the museum's YouTube channel . Cellist Hasan Belkasem Benaliua will play Arabic eve, violist Alina Petrova will play Chinese erhu, and project manager Gleb Andrianov will play piano and electronic instruments. This unusual musical combination will be accompanied by a plastic performance by Juliana Buholz and Dima Schebet. Also on this day, the museum offers to watch the recordings of lectures on its YouTube channel. For example, from last year's program of lectures “The Art of Home Tricks” you can learn about home theaters, libraries and “natural history rooms” in 18th century noble houses. And also "Tsaritsyno" invites you toonline tour of street art objects "Triennial of Textile Art and Contemporary Tapestry": this year for the first time it takes place not only in the halls of the Grand Palace and the Bread House, but also right under the open sky - in a landscape park. By the way, you don't need a ticket or a QR code to enter the park. Therefore, with a smartphone in hand, you can safely go to see the tapestries live, some of them are not woven from fabric, but from aluminum, plastic and neon tubes. 


Broadcasts on the portal "Culture.RF"

The portal "Kultura.RF" in the "Night of Art" will be held November 4 More than 50 broadcasts, devoted to Russian folk art and traditions. There are also Moscow museums among the organizers: at 16.00 the Historical Museum will hold a lecture on painted chests of the 17th-18th centuries, and at 20.00 the Museum of Music will tell you about the musical instruments of the peoples of Russia. Also on the eve of the action in the account "Kultura.RF" in "VKontakte" every day from November 1 to 7, representatives of the Historical Museum, the Theater Museum. A.A.
