Comet 46P/Wirtanen will be closest to Earth on Sunday, December 16, and will be visible to viewers all around the world.

While viewers in the different hemispheres will need to look in different directions, all can use the same stars and constellations as landmarks.

Skywatchers in the Northern Hemisphere should look to the eastern horizon after nightfall.

In the Southern Hemisphere, viewers will need to look toward the northeast.

The glowing green comet will appear between the V-shaped bull’s head in the constellation Taurus, EarthSky says.

Though it’ll best be seen with a telescope or binoculars, some viewers may even be able to see it with the naked eye.

To get a good look at Comet 46P, you’ll want to find the darkest possible viewing area, where the night sky is free of bright city lights
