Robin Williams' son Zak speaks for the first time about how the family are coping his father's death

Zak made the rare public appearance to speak about his father at a charity gala honouring Robin’s close friend, Christopher Reeve, on Thursday night.

‘A large part of what we're doing through this grieving process is giving and spending time focusing on others.’

Robin's eldest son, from his first marriage to Valerie Velardi, also shared how fans have been a help in this hard time as he added: ‘The outpouring was remarkable.’

He smiled as he added: ‘People shared their really loving words and supportive words, art, and all sorts of amazing tributes to my father.’

Zak went on to make a speech at the charity gala, which is dubbed the Christopher And Dana Reeve Foundation A Magical Evening.

The annual fundraiser for research into spinal cord injuries was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
